As Earth Day approaches on April 22, there’s never been a better time to reflect on how the choices we make at home can impact the planet. From how we shop to how we decorate, every decision carries the potential to reduce waste, support sustainability, and protect the environment.
At All For Knot Rope Weaving Inc., sustainability is woven into everything we do—literally. Through our Cast Away Designs, we reclaim worn lobster fishing float rope and give it a second life as functional, beautiful home décor. It’s our way of honouring maritime traditions while doing our part for the Earth, one knot at a time.
Why Reclaimed Matters in 2025
In 2025, eco-conscious consumerism is more than a trend—it’s an expectation. Shoppers are choosing quality over quantity, looking for products that reflect their values—particularly when it comes to sustainability, reducing waste, and supporting local craftsmanship.
At All For Knot, we contribute by upcycling rope that would otherwise go unused. We source new rope directly from a Nova Scotia rope factory—rope that is typically too short for commercial resale or doesn’t meet the fishing industry’s standards. Instead of being discarded, this high-quality rope is given new purpose through thoughtful design and skilled hand-weaving. Our commitment to reclaiming and reimagining these materials ensures each product tells a story of purpose, resilience, and maritime heritage.
Old Rope, New Purpose
Our Cast Away Designs take material that has endured harsh coastal conditions and transform it into something purposeful and lasting. The reclaimed rope we use is sourced directly from fishers across the Atlantic region. Each length of rope is carefully sorted, cleaned, and handwoven into a distinctive design that speaks to its origin.
This rope has character—textured by time, touched by salt, and marked by its work at sea. No two pieces are ever exactly the same, which means each finished product is both sustainable and one-of-a-kind.
Our Reclaimed Product Collection
Only six products in our store are made entirely from reclaimed fishing float rope—and they are the heart of our Earth Day message. These items combine authentic maritime heritage with responsible design. Each one tells a story of the sea, the hands that worked it, and the choice to give materials new meaning.

The Cast Away Sourcing Process
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a process. We collect worn fishing float rope directly from Atlantic Canadian fishers who can no longer use it for safety reasons. Rather than discard it, they pass it on to us. Our team then sorts, washes, and prepares the rope for its new life as home décor.
The result? A reclaimed rope product line with integrity—rooted in respect for the environment and the communities that depend on it.
Decorating with Purpose
Earth Day reminds us that every small choice adds up. Choosing handcrafted goods made from reclaimed materials is one of the simplest ways to reduce your impact—and fill your home with stories worth telling.
Our Cast Away products are proof that sustainability and style can go hand in hand. They’re tough, timeless, and tied to something bigger: a healthier planet.
