The Storm Raged On

The storm raged through the night. The ships’ sails reefed, desperately tried to survive the violent and tumultuous seas. The rage of heaven against earth was felt by every sailor on board as winds and waves buffeted their mighty craft, eyes searching for the saving grace of the lighthouse beacon. The black sky, a streak of grey stormy clouds, was all that met their eyes.

On the shore, the storm lashed out at the land also, as frightened eyes stood by a window and looked out to the sea. Rain pelted the glass and the roof above creating a cacophony that blended with a quickly beating heart. That raging black sky was the only thing that swam into view outside. Fervent pleas went out from desperate hearts, hoping against hope that the ship they longed for would reach port safely.

Then came the morning, a thick fog, akin to a falling cloud, masked the detail of the slowly alighting day. The sea, still slightly dark with abating anger, reflected the greyness of the sky.

From the port, shouts of jubilation and gratitude arose as a badly wounded ship limped through the fog towards the dock.

In honour of this story, which has played out so many times in history, we bring you “Stormy Night “and “Foggy Morning”, a set of two limited edition 32 x 18 contrasting lobster rope mats in black and grey.
